ABOUT
New Hope
The New Hope Initiative is a non-profit organization, founded and directed by Karen and Sandy Baird.
Karen is a woman. Sandy is a man. They are married. And magnificent*.

*as quoted from a letter to the Bairds from one particularly avid child fan, and with which I agree. However, child writer also goes on to say that Karen is "from the United States of America, the Volta Region", and "about 8 feet tall", with which I cannot agree. USA? Yes (Texas). Volta Region? No (Ghana).
Anyway, the New Hope Initiative alleviates poverty and suffering in severely destitute communities by pairing up with local leaders to establish schools, churches, orphanages, and more. Currently they have projects in Kenya, India, Tanzania, and Sierra Leone.

The project in Sierra Leone is an orphanage called the Karen Baird Children’s Home

(Karen did not have a say in this matter).
Though it was built in 2009, its inhabitants were determined long before that, by a man named Pastor Francis Rogers (perhaps the humblest, most godly man I have ever met), who began rescuing these children from starvation, homelessness, abuse, and abandonment as early as 2003.
